Abstract

Objective: To study the true incidence of chronic kidney disease in Vitebsk urban unorganized population (Belarus). Design and method: During research the representative group consisting of 315 persons from Vitebsk urban unorganized population was formed. The survey included standard questionnaires (WHO) for detection of cardiovascular risk factors, measurements of blood pressure, electrocardiography, kidney ultrasound and serum creatinine values. Chronic kidney disease is defined as abnormalities of kidney structure or function, present for 3 months, with implications for health (KDIGO, 2012). For diagnosis of arterial hypertension have been used according to guidelines on blood pressure management in chronic kidney disease (2021). Results: The average age of the population in the representative sample was 47.3 + -0.7 years. The prevalence of chronic kidney disease in the representative sample was 22.9%. The frequency of incidence of arterial hypertension in the representative sample was 33.3%. The prevalence of chronic kidney disease among patients with arterial hypertension was 42.9%. Thus, a higher incidence of chronic kidney disease was found in patients with arterial hypertension (42.9%) compared to the unorganized population (22.9%) (df = 1; x2 = 6.4; p < 0.01). Conclusions: High prevalence of chronic kidney disease is becoming a health problem in people of Belarus particularly in patients with arterial hypertension.
