Abstract
High harmonic generation (HHG) has attracted tremendous attention over two decades. This paper presents a brief review of high harmonic generation in atoms, molecules and nanostructures. Through a simple classical model, we first review a few important concepts in HHG. We then discuss how the electric field initial phase affects the harmonic yield, and explain the reason behind the cutoff law. We focus on HHG in nanostructures. As an example, a detailed calculation in C 60 is presented.
