Abstract

This paper presents a wideband and high gain waveguide slot antenna at 26 GHz for millimeter wave beamforming. As millimeter wave beamforming network requires a high bandwidth and high gain to cover the demands of traffic and users increasing for current millimeter wave and 5G technology. Waveguide slot antenna has the capability of providing high gain and power handling capability. Thus, in this work the bandwidth is increased by tilting the slot orientation that implemented on the broad wall and narrow wall of the waveguide and produces a dual beam in different directions. The proposed antenna has a six slots distributed on the top and narrow wall of the waveguide structure and tilts by 10°. The performance of the proposed waveguide slot antenna is analysed using CST software. A good reflection coefficient of −27 dB and a bandwidth of 2 GHz are obtained. The simulated gain of 13.7 dB and 6.95 dB are recorded at broad and narrow wall with a low slidelobes levels of −13 dB. Thus, the proposed antenna is a good candidate for millimeter wave beamforming applications.
