Abstract
Compact high gain conformal antenna with multibeam is highly required in terahertz wireless communication systems. For this purpose, a conformal antenna operating at 1 THz with high gain, multibeam, and low profile is proposed based on holographic technique. It’s composed of a monopole antenna and a conformal holographic artificial impedance surface using sub-wavelength square metallic patches on a grounded dielectric substrate. By modifying the surface impedance modulation function, four different parts of conformal artificial impedance surfaces are built. Combining the four parts of artificial impedance surfaces together and coating them on a curved surface, multibeam at desired radiation directions with high gain is achieved. The detailed design procedure of the conformal artificial impedance surface and the simulation results are presented and discussed.
