Abstract

In this investigation, the electromagnetic wave scatterings by conducting rectangular cylinders have been formulated by the surface equivalence theorem. In the equivalence theorem, the scattering fields can be generated from the equivalent electric and magnetic currents, which are approximated from the geometrical optics fields. Our formulation is found to be exactly the same with the physical optics (PO). Numerical calculations are made to compare the results with those by other methods, such as the geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD) and High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) simulation. A good agreement has been observed to confirm the validity of the method.
