Abstract

In this paper, we set up an equivalent circuit model for the metamaterial slow wave structure (MSWS) which consists of the empty circular waveguide filled with a complementary electric split ring resonator (CeSRR) array, and we propose a method to compute the resonant frequency of irregular slot-line according to the surface current distribution of the CeSRR. And then we theoretically calculate the high-frequency characteristics of the MSWS with different parameters. By comparing the results of theoretical calculations with those of simulations, we find that the results of equivalent circuit model are in good agreement with the simulation results. This fact indicates that the equivalent circuit model can be used to calculate the resonant frequency of slot-line, the dispersion characteristics and the interaction impedance for the MSWSs.
