Abstract
Magnetic field dependence of magnetization and electric polarization in mono-domain crystals of BiFeO3 were studied in pulsed magnetic fields up to 56T. The observed anisotropic transition fields were reasonably explained by Ginzburg–Landau theory at low temperatures, whereas their temperature dependence could not be in the simple model. The electric polarization measurements provide matrix elements of the linear magnetoelectric tensor |α31|∼|α32|=1.5±0.2ps/m.
