Abstract

I am a member of a club which argues that one can get from high energy spectroscopy surprisingly good values for the (Hubbard) correlation energy of narrow band electrons, for the strength of hybridization energy of the narrow band states, and for the degrees of occupation of these levels. Working in this area can have its frustrations. On the one hand, if one is honest, one must admit that we are normally working with models in order to interpret the results. One thus wishes to discuss not only possible refinements of the models but also their limitations. On the other hand it is always difficult to live with the fact that many people do not seem to be aware about the possibilities of the high energy spectroscopies, or do not want to know. And if you talk about the problems in front of the people who do not know (or do not want to know) you do not make them very enthusiastic about what you are trying to do.KeywordsValence ElectronCore LevelCore HoleCore Level PhotoemissionNarrow Band SystemThese keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
