Abstract

The effect of gold nanoparticles embedded in a hole transport layer, poly(3,4-ethylene-dioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulphonate) (PEDOT:PSS), was successfully studied based on small-molecule organic solar cells. The incorporation of nanoparticles results in a power conversion efficiency enhancement of 4.96%. This improvement was attributed to enhanced light harvesting because of the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect.
