Abstract

In this letter, a full-metallic 2-D elliptical lens antenna is introduced. Glide-symmetric nails bed structure is employed to mimic the dielectric properties of the lens. Despite discretized gradient refractive index lenses, the homogeneity of the elliptical lens allows achieving high aperture efficiency with smaller dimensions. Experimental results show that the manufactured antenna covers 23-33 GHz bandwidth and gain varies between 14.1 and 16.4 dBi. Aperture efficiency is also greater than 70% across wide bandwidths while exceeding 80% at most frequencies.
