Abstract

Aluminium oxide dosemeters have been shown to exhibit radioluminescence linearly with dose and dose rate to very high values with minimal visible colouration. An experimental search was conducted in an attempt to extend the range of thermoluminescence response. One material, Al 2 O 3 :Si, has been shown to exhibit a useful log-linear response from 0.1 kGy to at least 10 kGy. In addition, a peak sum ratio method, effectively obviating many calibration problems, has been demonstrated for determining absorbed dose in this dose range.
