Abstract
On a crisp, sunny morning in Bulawayo, I am walking across the cobblestone path leading to Macdonald Hall in Mzilikazi high-density suburb. As on every weekday morning, I know that inside the hall the members of Iluba Elirnnyama Experimental Theatre Workshop will be starting their warm-up in preparation for the day’s work. I can hear from a distance the vocal harmonies of an Ndebele folksong punctuated with ululations, clapping, drumming and high-pitched cries .
