Abstract

Prior studies have shown that high-density lipoprotein (HDL) is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease and is inversely correlated with the incidence of ischemic heart disease as well as other atherosclerosis-related ischemic conditions. Therapeutic angiogenesis has proved to be promising in increasing myocardial perfusion for patients with ischemic heart disease. This review focuses on the effects of HDL on repairing endothelial injury and promoting angiogenesis, aiming to provide new insights on therapeutic angiogenesis for ischemic heart disease. Key words: Cholesterol, HDL; Endothelium, vascular; Myocardial ischemic
