Abstract

Agarose gel at 7 to 8 g/dl solvent was found to provide excellent resolution when used in zonal electrophoresis of proteins, comparable to that provided by starch or polyacrylamide gels. When applied to human plasma, by utilizing only a simple buffer and no origin-sharpening device, up to 33 protein components were resolved. Details of the special procedure required for gel preparation and representative plasma protein patterns are presented.
