Abstract

Nd‐Fe‐B Permanent magnetic alloys are prepared using low cost impure Nd metals (≤95% Nd). The methods enhancing the coercivity of Nd‐Fe‐B magnets are studied. The addition of alloy elements enhances the magnetic properties of the magnets, and increases the coercivity of the magnets obviously. Dy2O3 added in Nd‐(Fe,M)‐B magnets (M is one or several kind of elements) can increase the coercivity of the Nd‐(Fe,M)‐B magnets. The increase degree of the coercivity of the Nd‐(Fe,M)‐B magnets containing Dy2O3 is more than that of the coercivity of the Nd‐Fe‐B magnets containing Dy2O3 of the same amount. The magnetic properties of the Nd‐(Fe,M)‐B magnets containing 1% Dy2O3 are iHC=1360 KA/m, bHC=926 KA/m, Br=1.20T. (BH)max=279 KJ/m3. The microstructures are studied.
