Abstract
A brief description of the history of the origin of engineering education in Russia, the creation of the Institute of Railway Engineers by Alexander I is presented. The high level of training of engineering personnel, who made a huge contribution to the construction of the country’s railways, where the Trans-Siberian Railway occupies a special place, is shown. The strategic and economic significance of the Trans-Siberian Railway has been relevant since the time of its construction. Russia has the right to be proud of the engineers who built the Great Siberian Railway and opened traffic along it, linking the east and west of the vast territory of the country. The necessity of popularizing the activities of engineers — the creators of the great Trans-Siberian Railway by publishing essays, issues and books is substantiated.
