Abstract

This research involves a preliminary study of high calcium fly ash (HCFA) geopolymer and exploring the potential for textile reinforced mortar (TRM) application. The properties of the HCFA geopolymer added with styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) were compared with normal cement mortar. The performance of HCFA geopolymer TRM in flexural strengthening of concrete prisms was also compared with normal TRM. Results revealed that the HCFA geopolymer without SBR had higher compressive strength, residual strength and exhibited superior efficiency in TRM- flexural strengthening of concrete prisms than normal cement mortar. Findings from this study suggest good potential of the HCFA to be further developed in TRM for strengthening applications.
