HIGH ALTITUDE DISEASE

Abstract

Much has been written on the disturbances produced by high altitudes, but Prof. Monge was the first to establish the existence of definite clinical entities produced by maladaptation to life at a high altitude, studies which were first published in 1928 in a monograph entitled La enfermedad de los Andes. Prof. Monge has written, at my request, a summary of the disease which justly bears his name—Monge's disease, and it has been my privilege to act as translator. —E. S. Guzman Barron, Chicago.
