Abstract

With the expansion of urban rail lines and the specificity of the time-varying staffing needs of urban rail stations, the issue of urban rail station staffing problem has become more important. This study investigates the staffing problem of time-varying staffing needs based on the current situation of staffing in urban rail stations, considering the hierarchical collaboration of staff in urban rail stations and provides a scientific analysis tool to achieve significant cost reduction and efficiency gains. This study presents a mathematical modelling of the problem, solves the model using a forbidden search algorithm, and performs sensitivity analysis on the model parameters through simulation cases to observe the impact of station crew demand on the solution of the problem for different peak-type stations and different fluctuation scenarios.
