Abstract
Quasielastic light scattering (QELS) in dielectric crystals has been studied in the view-point of nonequilibrium phenomenology. It has been found that the observed double QELS can be ascribed to the two limiting characteristics of a \phonon gas": the two linewidths re∞ect the time scales for the nonequilibrium kinetic processes and for the equilibrated collective motions of the constituent phonons, respectively.
