Abstract

In this paper a new control method for large scale industrial systems, hierarchical predictive control, is presented . The principle and algorithm of the predictive control are firstly described. Then the decomposition-coordination technique is utilized to develop a hierarchical predictive control algorithm. The convergence of the algorithm and the rule of choosing optimal step length are studied in detail to make the algorithm usable. Finally, the efficiency of the new scheme is demonstrated by simulation of a boiler system with 4 inputs and 4 outputs.
