Abstract

A highly active electrocatalyst for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is very important to reduce energy consumption in large-scale water-splitting. Herein, we prepared the NiFe layered-double-hydroxide (LDH) decorated with Fe-doped NiSe nanosheet on nickel foam ((Ni, Fe)Se@NiFe-LDH/NF) by a three-step method. The hierarchical (Ni, Fe)Se@NiFe-LDH/NF exhibit outstanding OER properties in an alkaline medium. The overpotential at 100 mA/cm2 and Tafel slope of (Ni, Fe)Se@NiFe-LDH/NF is 253 mV and 47 mV/dec, respectively. The hierarchical (Ni, Fe)Se@NiFe-LDH/NF shows good long-term stability. The outstanding OER performance is attributed to the Fe doping, fast charge transfer and the synergistic interaction between (Ni, Fe)Se and NiFe-LDH. This work presents a promising strategy to fabricate highly efficiently OER electrocatalysts.
