Abstract
To ensure an efficient work of Flexible Manufacturing Systems powerful control systems are needed. Both the mathematical complexity of the scheduling problem and reliability requirements lead to hierarchically structured modular control software. Beside the control of the material processes in FMS, the control software itself requires a scheduling of informational processes in the computer system used to operate FMS. A dynamic list schedule has been developed which can be experimentally adjusted or by using theoretical approaches like queuing network theory or timed Petrinets.
