Abstract
The McKesson Narmatic anesthesia machine was designed originally as a demand-flow device for nitrous oxide-oxygen mixtures. The machine functions adequately, although it is at times inaccurate and unstable. The addition of an optional bag and in-circuit vaporizer has provided other hazards in the use of the machine. Because of these dangers, strong recommendations are made that the machine not be used.
