Abstract

Small bowel obstruction is a common complication after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) that can be associated with considerable morbidity and mortality. The reported incidence ranges from 1.5% to 5% [ [1] Husain S. Ahmed A.R. Johnson J. Boss T. O’Malley W. Small-bowel obstruction after laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass etiology, diagnosis, and management. Arch Surg. 2007; 142: 988-993 Crossref PubMed Scopus (77) Google Scholar ]. Early small bowel obstructions tend to result from technical problems with the Roux limb. The later group of obstructions usually results from adhesions or hernias, which are the most common presentations and could be handled laparoscopically without bowel resection [ 2 Bradley III, J.F.
