Abstract
1. 1. A modification of the repair of hiatal hernia is presented. We believe that this method is much easier technically, and that it reduces the hernia, elongates the esophagus and restores the normal esophagogastric angle. 2. 2. Comments on the Schatzki ring are given, and a different concept of its clinical importance and therapy is presented.
