Abstract

Abstract A rationale for and description of an optimum teaching environment is presented. Called the Didactron, the proposed seven-compartment multi-media facility is designed to improve significantly learning and teaching efficiency, and to provide a unique educational research facility. A “walk-in teaching machine,” a space in which each teacher can heuristically discover his potential, is proposed. A scenario of the use of such a facility is presented, demonstrating its role in natural resource education. The subsystems are described: a large group facility, a control room, an observation room, an auto-tutorial environment, a simulation center, a preparation room, and a conference environment.
