Abstract

Three new heterotrimetallic Mo–Na–M [M=K (1), Rb (2), Cs (3)] complexes of a molybdenum metalloligand have been synthesized and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The potassium, rubidium and cesium complexes, [K(H2O)(MeOH)(Mo2O5L2)Na]n (1), {[Na(H2O)2(MeOH)(Mo2O5L2)Rb(H2O)]n·H2O·MeOH} (2) and [Na(H2O)(MeOH)2(Mo2O5L2)Cs(MeOH)]n·H2O·(3) {LH2=2-(3-tert-butyl-2-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzylamino)acetic acid} form polymeric chains. All the complexes exhibit dye adsorption and desorption by a cation exchange pathway.
