Abstract

Three novel bis-dioxolene manganese complexes (dioxolene = the reduced forms of 3,6-di-tert-butyl-o-quinone) with iminopyridine ligands having various substituents (cyclohexyl, 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-piperidine-1-oxyl (TEMPO) and phenyl) at the imine nitrogen atom have been synthesized. The X-ray structural investigation has shown that the obtained compounds are characterized by different charge distribution. In spite of this complexes demonstrate close magnetic behavior. Compounds based on phenyl- and TEMPO-substituted iminopyridines containing anion-radical form of dioxolene are characterized by strong antiferromagnetic exchange interaction between unpaired electrons on the manganese ions and o-semiquinonato ligands.
