Abstract

AbstractA collection of Melolonthidae: Dynastinae in coll. Nat. Mus., Washington was found to contain the following species: Phyllognathus dionysius Fabr. Dipelicus daedalus Fabr., Oryctes rhinoceros (L.), Blabephorus pinguis Fairm., Xylotrupes gideon meridionalis Prell, Eophileurus singalensis Arrow, E. decatenatus Arrow, which is new for the this fauna, and Heteronychus krombeini n.sp. - Blabephorus pinguis was earlier known from Ceylon in one specimen, a female, only which was described as B. p. ceylonicus Miksic. The only specimen, a male, contained in this collection does not support the idea of a special subspecies in Ceylon.
