Abstract

The photophysical properties of heteroleptic cyclometalated NHC iridium(III) complexes with bulky acetylacetonates have previously not been explored. To fill this gap, we prepared a new heteroleptic iridium(III) complex and measured its photophysical properties. We investigated the electronic properties by means of DFT calculations (PBE0/6-311G∗) and propose a possible mechanism for the radiationless deactivation from the excited state.
