Abstract

A novel and highly efficient heterogeneous gold(I)-catalyzed [2 + 2 + 2] annulation between ynamides and nitriles has been developed that proceeds smoothly under mild conditions and provides a general and powerful tool for the preparation of a variety of tetrasubstituted pyrimidines with high atom-economy, good to excellent yield, and recyclability of the gold(I) catalyst. The reaction is the first example of the heterogeneous gold(I)-catalyzed construction of pyrimidines.
