Abstract

The homocoupling of terminal alkynes under heterogeneous catalysis is tackled in this perspective. The performance of different unsupported and supported catalysts, primarily based on palladium and copper, is analyzed from a critical point of view. This type of coupling provides the most direct access to 1,3-diynes, which can be found in nature and are very important compounds in organic synthesis.
