Abstract

In this paper we report the nucleophilic addition/substitution reactions of tertiary phosphites P(OMe) 3 and P(OCH 2 ) 3 CCH 3 to the 16-electron clusters [Pd(AuPPh 3 ) 8 ] 2+ and [(PPh 3 )Pd(AuPPh 3 ) 6 ] 2+ to give the new 18-electron compounds [(P-(OCH 3 ) 3 Pd(AuPPh 3 ) 6 (AuP(OCH 3 ) 3 ) 2 ] 2+ and [(P(OCH 2 ) 3 CCH 3 ) 2 Pd(AuPPh 3 ) 6 ] 2+ respectively. These compounds have been characterized by IR spectroscopy, FABMS, and 31 P and 1 H NMR spectroscopy
