Abstract
Tom Herring of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology was awarded the James R. Macelwane Award for significant contributions to geophysical sciences on May 29 at the annual Spring Meeting Honors Night in Baltimore, Md. The award is presented to scientists under the age of 35 who possess outstanding ability.The award citation, delivered by Irwin Shapiro, and Herring's response are presented below.
