Abstract

The Mad Max trilogy is clearly a cult classic, frequently appearing on cable TV stations 20 years after the first film's release. The films are usually considered science fiction/action films, offering audiences a mixture of car crashes and excessive violence. Indeed, the films contain multiple deaths or severe injuries of characters, inspired by director George Miller's emergency room experience (Chute 28), with some of the finest footage of car chases and spectacular crashes in movie history. The threepart series of the adventures of Mad Max, portrayed by Mel Gibson, consists of Mad Max (1979), The Road Warrior (1982), and Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome (1985).
