Abstract

The article presents some important arguments about the hermeneutic keys to the interpretation of biblical images, motifs and symbols in Ivan Franko's prose in general, and in his "Old Russian stories" in particular.Ivan Franko is considered to be a world-famous Ukrainian writer, whose famous historiographical, artistic and literary-critical works, as well as his political and cultural activities of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, still retain their influence on Ukrainian literature. Nevertheless, the current intercultural context requires a reassessment of the theoretical and pragmatic potential of I. Franko's intellectual heritage, especially given its interrelations with European philosophical and religious traditions.That is why, the article presents theoretical and pragmatic analyzes of I. Franko's literary works that are designed to open up new opportunities to attract his thoughts in the context of modern intercultural dialogue.
