Hermeneutic circulation as a core principle of education in hyper-connected society

Abstract

본 연구는 해석학적 순환이 4차 산업혁명 시대의 새로운 핵심 교육원리가 될 수 있는지를 검토하였다. 초지능·초연결을 특징으로 하는 현대사회에서 학습자는 관심 있는 지식을 찾고 스스로 참된앎으로 상승시키는 능력을 배양해야 하는데, 해석학적 인식론의 개방적, 대화적 특성이 그 목적에매우 부합하기 때문이다. 해석학적 순환이 교육원리가 될 수 있는지를 검토하기 위해 본 논문에서는 Schleiermacher, Dilthey, Gadamer의 해석학적 순환의 의미와 특징을 살펴보았다. Schleiermacher가 강조한 부분과 전체 간의 순환은 해석학적 순환의 기본구조이다. 삶의 체험을인간의 존재형식으로 본 Dilthey는 체험, 표현, 이해 사이의 순환적 연결을 드러내 주었으며, Gadamer는 텍스트의 과거지평과 해석자의 현재지평이 상호 순환하는 사이에서 이해가 생겨난다고보았다. 다양한 텍스트 간의 순환, 체험과 표현 간의 순환, 텍스트와 이해자 간의 순환작용은 우리의 앎 또는 이해를 점차 더 나은 이해로 나아가게 한다. 해석학적 순환이 초연결사회의 교육원리로 적용된다면 학습자는 적극적으로 이해하는 존재가 될 수 있으며 온라인과 오프라인을 넘나들며개방적으로 지식을 찾아가는 탐구자가 될 수 있을 것이다. 순환적, 확산적 이해의 원리는 학습자가스스로 오류를 수정하면서 더 온전한 이해로 나아갈 수 있게 하며, 진실되게 체험하고 표현하는교육을 가능하게 하기 때문이다. 해석학적 순환의 원리가 교육현장에 적용되기 위해서 학습자의전이해를 인정하고, 학습자를 몸과 마음을 지닌 존재로 이해하며, 좀 더 개방적인 교육과정이 필요하다.This study examined whether the hermeneutic cycle could be a new core educational principle in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In a modern society characterized by super-intelligence and hyper-connectivity, learners must actively cultivate their ability to find themselves of interest and to elevate themselves to true knowledge. The open and interactive nature of hermeneutic epistemology fits this educational purpose very well. In order to examine whether the hermeneutic circulation can be an educational principle, this paper reviewed the meaning and features of Schleiermacher, Dilthey and Gadamer s hermeneutic circulation. The circulation between the part and the whole, emphasized by Schleiermacher, is the basic structure of the hermeneutic cycle. Dilthey, who considered life s experience as a form of human existence, revealed a cyclical link between experience, expression, and understanding, and Gadamer thought that understanding occurred between the circulation of the past horizon of the text and the present horizon of the interpreter. The cycle between the various texts, the cycle between experience and expression, and the cycle between the text and the reader, lead our knowledge or understanding to a better understanding. If the hermeneutic cycle is applied as the educational principle of hyper-connected society, learners can become active interpreter and searchers who openly search for knowledge across online and offline. The principle of circular and diffuse understanding allows learners to correct errors and move on to fuller understanding, and to educate them to truly experience and express themselves. In order for the principles of the hermeneutic cycle to be applied to the educational field, we understand the learner as a being with a preconception, a being with a mind and a body. A more open curriculum is also required.
