Abstract

The three types of hereditary ovarian cancer families are (1) site-specific hereditary ovarian cancer, (2) breast/ovarian hereditary cancer, and (3) the Lynch II syndrome. Female members of these families require genetic counseling and close observation to facilitate early detection of cancer. When childbearing is complete, these women should consider prophylactic oophorectomy.
