Abstract
SEX linked anaemia, which is hypochromic and microcytic1, was first observed in the male descendants of an irradiated mouse, and was shown to be an X linked recessive trait2. The gene symbol has been designated sla and its locus lies close to Tabby (Ta) and Brindled (Mobr) in linkage group XX2.
