Abstract
The current status of genetic research at the molecular biology level is reviewed as it applies to the hereditary aspects of urogenital cancer. An introductory overview of tumorigenesis as a multistep process with interactions between the host and environment is followed by separate discussions of hereditary and genetic alterations in the five major urologic cancers: prostate, urothelial, testicular, renal cell, and Wilms’ tumor.
