Abstract

The results of simulation studies on the use of improved pasture and the potential for seasonal milk production in small-scale dairy systems in Southeast Brazil are reported. The methodology for experimentation with an integer-stochastic model and the interpretation of the results are discussed, with particular reference to the choice of initial conditions for simulation runs and the transition phase, during which the system accommodates to a change in management.
