Abstract

ABSTRACTLiver toxicity was induced by anti-tubercular drugs (INH + RIF) and ethanolic extract of Galanga (Alpinia officinarum) rhizome at 200 or 400 mg kg−1 were administered orally once daily for 21 d. The hepatoprotective activity was assessed using biochemical parameters. Results demonstrated that the Galanga rhizome extracts reduced the toxicity in serum levels of hepatic enzymes. Histopathology showed that Galanga rhizome extracts attenuated the hepatocellular necrosis, regeneration, and repair of cells toward normal.
