Abstract

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is among the most common malignancies in the world. HCC is highly prevalent in sub-Saharan Africa and East Asia and is the most prevalent form of cancer in Taiwanese males. HCC easily metastasizes, and extrahepatic metastasis of HCC occurs in more than 50% of HCC patients. However, metastatic HCC in the head and neck area is extremely rare. We report here two cases of metastatic HCC in the head and neck area: HCC with nasal cavity metastasis and hard palate metastases. We reviewed all cases of HCC with sinonasal (18 cases) and oral region (71cases) metastasis documented in English medical literature. We also discuss the features of I-ICC and metastatic tumor in the nasal and oral cavity as well as the possible metastatic route and prognosis of metastatic HCC in the head and neck area.
