Abstract

H C has recently come to the forefront of the medical community, mostly because of the controversial cost of the newest drug therapies used to treat the disease. These new therapies, however, have improved sustained virological response (SVR) rates, lower adverse effect profiles, easier-to-manage drug regimens, and shorter durations of therapy than previous regimens. Pharmacists can play a key role in helping patients with the hepatitis C virus (HCV) manage their therapy. This article provides a resource for the pharmacist on HCV and current drug treatment therapies.
