Abstract
Type material of the epiphyllous liverwort Otolejeunea schnellii (Tixier) R.-L.Zhu & M.L.So (Lejeuneaceae, Hepaticae) from Brazil is described and illustrated. Its hitherto unknown gynoecia with mature perianths confirm the presence of the genus Otolejeunea in the neotropics. The ecology of the species and nomenclatural problems concerning its name are briefly discussed. A revised key to all known species of Otolejeunea is presented.
