Abstract

The management of gastric variceal bleeding remains a clinical challenge.1 Endoscopic injection of Histoacryl (B. Braun Corp, Melsungen, Germany) can control bleeding in more than 80% of cases and has been proven to be an excellent treatment for gastric variceal bleeding.1-3 However, it has the risk of complications such as systemic4-6 or portal system embolization,7-10 retrogastric abscess,11 and fistula formation.12 Herein we report a case of hepatic failure requiring transplantation caused by portal vein embolism after endoscopic injection of Histoacryl.
