Abstract

Hepatic arterial buffer response (HABR) is an intrinsic regulatory mechanism to maintain total hepatic blood flow when portal perfusion decreases [1]. This phenomenon has been shown under various experimental conditions and Doppler ultrasound studies have suggested persistence of HABR in cirrhotic patients with transjugular intrahepatic porto-systemic shunt [2].
