Abstract

Background: Hepatic adenomas (HA) are benign liver masses commonly found incidentally in reproductive aged women and are classically associated with exogenous estrogen use and obesity. Most data on this association is based on 50mcg ethinyl-estradiol doses, though one case control study with modern hormone doses suggests no increased risk of HA formation with estrogen use. This study aims to describe risk of HA development with hormone use in an adolescent and young adult population.
