Abstract
Technology variant application in the power plant have a significant impact on the performance, the main targeted area in the latest technology application are increase the power plant efficiency, decrease CO2 production and reliability of power plant engine, this area can be apllied for F series of gas turbine at muara karang power plant. In F series gas turbine, inlet guide vane modulation application (IGVM) has an effect on power plant efficiency, the mechanism of IGVM works by setting the IGV opening at partial load. This mechanism will cost 150 million rupiahs for minor modifications and spare parts on IGV, however the investment cost will return only in two weeks operating time because of the combined cycle efficiency increase 0.7% (8 kCal / kWh) and also decrease 0,5 % the CO2 production. High efficiency particulate air Filter (HEPAF) used to maintain the air quality enter the gas turbine compressor. If the air entering the compressor without impurity particles, the compressor efficiency will keep in high. With HEPAF the power plant efficiency can be maintained and the efficiency reduction value that can be avoided reaches 1.2% (14 kCal / kWh). HEPAF will need four billion rupiahs investment for new filters and medium modification at intake air duct, but this investment will return in 8 months operating time compared with not using HEPAF unit. As a summary, the result shows after the application use for F series gas turbine, the program that will affect efficiency and CO2 production is IGVM, and the application that maintains efficiency is HEPAF, and this combination (IGVM and HEPAF) already proven in muara karang power plant.
